Located at 5933 6th Ave, Altoona, PA 16602, Alto Markets operates as an italian deli serving Altoona in Pennsylvania. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.
In Altoona, family-run Italian places are busiest on weekend evenings and around holidays, when reservations or call-ahead seating are worth it. BYOB is common at smaller restaurants in some states, with a modest corkage fee or none at all; the listing or a quick call will tell you. Wing-and-pizza shops across Pennsylvania do most of their business by delivery and price wings by the piece or in fixed counts, with sauce heat adjustable on request. Catering trays, party pizzas and sheet pies need a day's notice at most places, and more around big game days.
Hours are published for 1 day a week. The most common schedule is 11 AMβ6 PM. Note that it does not open on Sunday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (814) 201-2055. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, altofamily.com.

Altoona is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Altoona is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Only stopped,, did not get to buy anything, will update review when I do. They have a ton of Italian foods, subs, and sauces along with breads and fresh pasta salads to purchase!! I definitely want to stop back to grab a fresh sub because I hear there are the best in the area!!

Brother and I stopped here yesterday, fantastic hoagie sub place. The 2 girls that waited on us were so polite and took their time to explain the sandwiches very accurately too. Very good, highly recommend you try. Clean and easy parking, roomy place. Not sure if there is a sit down area to eat or not we were in a rush.

Working our way across PA and trying recommended hoagie/sub places β friendly staff and super fresh meats and cheeses - Boarβs Head - tried the Italian - $13.99 and separate dressing keeps things from getting soggy.

I didnt love it, but i could taste the quality. I still gave it a 5 because this is what people are after even if i prefer something different. Wife enjoyed it. That nice fresh sliced meat, we picked up some other items at the store. On par for pricing and the staff was friendly.

Iβve previously been to Forno Alto nextdoor, but never Alto Markets. Itβs an adorable shop that is filled with fresh made pasta, jarred goods, and a variety of meats. Hiding within is a fantastic deli counter that makes a killer sub. All of the meats are freshly sliced to order. I got a 6β Rome. The flavor of the meats was so stand out, and everything they add just compliments them so well. A little salty, a little vinegar, and incredibly soft bread. Iβm usually a βheavy on the mayoβ kind of girl, but this was delicious without it. Absolutely stop in for a sub next time youβre in the area.
